Hi, I’m Ayun.
I’m Ayun, the founder and guide behind Southwest Trails. I’ve lived in Aljezur most of my life, growing up outdoors, riding bikes and exploring the trails around Portugal’s southwest coast.
I started racing downhill in 2019. Racing shaped my riding and how I read a trail, but I’ve always loved flowing singletrack and long days exploring on the bike just as much.
I started SW Trails to share that with other people: the local routes I enjoy, the views along the way and the freedom of spending a day outside.
Your ride, your pace
I keep the guiding personal and flexible, choosing the route and pace around your riding experience, confidence and the conditions on the day.
Small groups make it easier to adapt the ride, whether you’re new to mountain biking or enjoy a more technical challenge. Couples, families and solo riders are welcome, with private rides and larger groups arranged on request.
More than just riding
Riding here means Atlantic views, quiet backroads and trails that take you away from the busy spots. If you’re staying in Aljezur or Arrifana, a guided bike ride is a way to explore more of the Southwest Algarve beyond the beach.
There’s time to stop, look around and enjoy where you are. Some days are about coastal scenery and an easy pace; others take us into the Monchique mountains for forest trails and more demanding terrain.
The vision
The idea is simple: a good day on the bike, whether you enjoy fast, technical descents or a relaxed ride with time to take in the views.
Our Coastal Explorer and Sunset Ride explore the coast, while the Mountain Challenge heads into Monchique. For a longer adventure, Highland to Coastline takes you from Fóia down to the sea.
